Sokszor jártam már a Parlament környékén, de nem tudtam hogy létezik ez a hely.Ez egy ingyenesen látogatható emlékhely, amely kiválóan bemutatja az 1956-ban történt történelmi katasztrófát itt, a Kossuth téren. Megrázó felvételek és riportok a túlélőkkel, régi képek és a vérfürdő kialakulásának részletes elemzése is megtalálható. Interaktív térkép hogy 56-ban az ország melyik helyén hány halálos áldozat volt.Ajánlom a hely megtekintését, egy fél órát simán el lehet tölteni ha az ember nem csak átrohan, hanem beleveszik a történelembe. Megrázó lehet, legalábbis nekem az volt, de hát így reprezentálja az 56-ban történő eseményeket.A hely megtekintése után, miután visszatérünk a valóságba, másképp fogja látni az ember a Kossuth teret.

A Kossuth-tér átépítése során az Országház építésekor kialakított fűtési, szellőztető rendszer alagútjait hasznosítva ezen a helyen ingyenesen látogatható 56-os emlékhelyet alakítottak ki. Lift nincs, lépcsőzni kell.

Wow, and in living memory for many of us. Note the bullet holes in the railings..... well worth half an hour and FREE as is Hungary.

Museum is for free but it’s was pity that this kind of memorials didn’t have bigger space and more interactive. This part of history should be more visible for everyone.

25TH OCTOBER 1956 MEMORIALThe 25th October 1956 memorial and exhibition are located within an underground tunnel to the left of the Parliament building. This space, originally designed for the building's cooling, heating, and ventilation system, has been repurposed to house the memorial site dedicated to the victims of the massacre on 25th October 1956. The In Memoriam 25 October 1956 Memorial Site and Exhibition, inaugurated on 25th October 2014, consists of two distinct yet complementary elements: an exhibition that recounts the brutal massacre that occurred at Kossuth Square on that fateful day in 1956, and a rotunda-shaped memorial site that provides visitors a space to express grief, pay respects, and honor the victims. The exhibition presents an account of the tragic events through museum artifacts, projected period images, and screened documentaries. Survivors' recollections vividly portray the intense inhumanity of that era. The rotunda features a brick wall adorned with plaques bearing the names of victims or symbolizing those whose identities remain unknown. This combined memorial and exhibition offers both a historical perspective and a somber space for contemplation and remembrance.

The memorial is dedicated to the victims of 1956 and to the memory of all of us. Kudos to them.

Historic monument which is definitely worth a visit as it is located right behind the parliament building.
