The Aquincum Hotel Budapest
The hotel's amenities are quite outdated. The spa and the bathroom in the hotel were not maintaned well and even looked moldy in some parts. The room service did not clean our room properly even once during our 5 night stay (did not refill minibar, left empty bottles around), and even left our door completely open with our laptops on the table!! I forgot my wallet in the safe at the hotel and they are incapable of sending it back for almost a week already and are difficult to reach. On the other hand, the breakfast was quite good and the reception staff and the restaurant staff were very pleasant and professional.

We spent a week in the Aquincum hotel, it’s a fairly old hotel, it was a good stay however the hotel is suffering from what seems like a lack of maintenance in the past, we got moved rooms twice because of the air conditioning not working however we could see many rooms with ac engineers in trying to resolve the problems. The third room, we couldn’t control the volume on the tv and the shower just threw the water everywhere but we didn’t want to moan. The lifts were funny, one is being replaced, the middle one often got stuck and so the third one was taking the slack. The restaurant was a bit underwhelming, it wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either, we got a much better meal at the bar and the omelettes were really good. The staff were really helpful and nice, but they are very strict on the checkin time, it’s also worth noting the hotel is clean. There are 2 thermal pools and a swimming pool downstairs, the steam room and sauna was out of order. We had a massage and magnesium bath which were reasonably priced. The hotel is really close to the station which has a great bakery which quick links into town and you can walk across the long bridge to get to the end of Margaret island.Overall it was cheaper than other hotels and we were happy, when the hotel catches up there maintenance it will be even better.

This was a great hotel, there are 3 pools with different temperatures that are suitable for everyone! The room was luxurious as we got an awesome view over the lake. Thank you, Aquincum!

Beautiful old hotel. Location was walking distance to lots of tour worthy places. Restaurant was worthy. Great breakfast buffet. Do not skip visiting the expansive pool and spa

I spent 6 nights in the hotel and considered it decent value for money. The room was somewhat dated by modern standards, but I had a comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast was plentiful with a huge variety of goodies to enjoy. The spa facilities were excellent and never too crowded. The location is a bit outside the city centre but the transport connections are second to none. I found all the staff I dealt with very friendly and approachable. Special mention for Nikki in the River Bar who couldn't do enough for you and who brightened up my late evening drinks!

My husband booked a room for 2 for 150 euro for the night. When we checked in the temperature in the room was 27 degrees. We thought that it needs time for cool down the room, so we went to the city.We came back in few hours and temperate was 28 degrees. We told the staff on reception about this and then placed 2 fans in our room.We told that it’s ridiculous and asked to switch the room.Once we got in the new room the situation repeated. While it was 30+ outside, we had to sleep with temperature 26-27 in the room although A/C was set to 21 degrees. It just didn’t work! One of the windows was broken and we were not even able to open it.The staff was nice, but they were not able to solve our problem. No compensation was proposed.I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the stay. It doesn’t worth the money you pay.

I had a good experience checking in and the room was ok, a bit dated but good enough. Unfortunately on the day I was checking out I went for a massage and my room was made up by housekeeping and I was robbed of 300 euros! I informed the manager and they said they were investigating it, apparently they have cctv and door lock system but they can’t explain what happened.I am disgusted and as a guide taking people to this beautiful city this has tainted my experience and if I were you I would not stay at a hotel that does nothing to help it’s customers after being robbed. No happy with my stay and warning for all staying here don’t leave anything in your room even if out for an hour!
